Workforce management

Employee workforce management software

Shifts and attendance on one side, projects and delivered work on the other, and the hours that connect them in the middle. Built for companies of roughly ten to two hundred and fifty people rather than for an enterprise rollout.

  • Projects and tasks
  • Daily work reports
  • Hours per project
  • Capacity at a glance

The four things a manager of this size team needs

01

Who is available

Attendance, approved leave and the holiday calendar in one view, so planning next week does not start with three questions in chat.

02

What is being worked on

Projects with a code, a manager and members; tasks with an assignee, a priority, a due date and a completion percentage.

03

How much effort it took

Daily work reports and, optionally, measured hours from the desktop tracker — both attributed to the project.

04

Whether it is on track

Completion percentage against effort spent, which is the earliest honest signal that a deadline is in trouble.

Daily work reports

The lowest-friction way to find out what a team actually did, and the module customers keep even when they never install the tracker.

Each employee writes a short report at the end of the day: the project, what was done, the hours spent and where the task stands. It takes a minute, it replaces the standing status call, and it produces a searchable record of the month rather than a memory of it.

Because reports are written against a project, the same entries roll up into per-project effort without anyone re-entering the data. Managers read the day in one screen instead of collecting it.

Reporting

Everything above is only useful if it comes back out in a shape somebody can act on.

Attendance reports

Present, absent, late, half-day and total hours per employee for any date range, exportable as CSV for payroll.

Time reports

Active and idle hours per employee, per project and per task, with the activity percentage alongside.

Work report digests

What each person reported, grouped by project, for a week or a month.

Leave reports

Taken, pending and outstanding balance by employee and department, at any point in the year.

Frequently asked questions about workforce management

What is workforce management software?

Workforce management software covers how work is allocated and how time is spent across a team: shifts and attendance, capacity, projects and tasks, hours against those projects, and the reporting that connects them. Employee Desk covers this for teams of roughly ten to two hundred and fifty people.

Does it include scheduling and rostering?

It supports shift assignment per employee, which covers rotating rosters and split teams. It is not a demand-forecasting rostering engine for a retail floor, so if your requirement is generating optimal shift patterns from footfall forecasts, this is not the right tool.

How do projects and tasks work?

Projects carry a code, a manager and members. Tasks under them carry an assignee, a priority, a due date and a completion percentage. Daily work reports and tracked hours both attach to a project, so effort and progress are visible against the same object.

Can managers see team capacity?

Yes. The team view combines who is on leave, who is tracking time, hours booked against each project and task completion, which is the practical version of capacity for a team this size.
