No behavioural nudging
No distraction pop-ups and no productivity score attached to a person. Employee Desk reports hours and activity and leaves the judgement to managers, which is a deliberate design position.
Time Doctor is built around productivity measurement: distraction alerts, productivity ratings and detailed application analysis. Employee Desk takes a deliberately quieter approach and adds the attendance and leave side that Time Doctor is not designed to be.
Attendance, leave, holidays, employee records, projects, tasks and daily work reports, with an optional desktop time tracker on top. Available as a cloud subscription or as a licence you install on your own server. Built in India, priced in rupees.
Time Doctor is a cloud time tracking and productivity platform. Its distinguishing features are around measuring and nudging behaviour: alerts when a user appears distracted, productivity ratings applied to applications and websites, and detailed analysis of how time was spent.
Compared on facts that can be checked from public documentation. Where something is genuinely unclear it is marked rather than guessed at.

Check Time Doctor’s own site before you decide. Software changes. Everything on this page is written from Time Doctor’s public documentation and pricing pages at the time of writing, we do not restate their prices here because they move, and we correct this page when we are told it is wrong. The whole application on your own server, screenshots included. Time Doctor is cloud only.
Self-hosted → 02A real register with shifts and late policy, plus leave accrual and a holiday calendar. Time Doctor is not designed to be your attendance system.
Attendance →No distraction pop-ups and no productivity score attached to a person. Employee Desk reports hours and activity and leaves the judgement to managers, which is a deliberate design position.
No app-by-app productivity rating means no argument about whether a documentation site should have been rated unproductive.
Rupee prices, GST invoices and IST support.
Pricing →Written plainly, because a comparison page that finds no fault with itself is not worth reading.
If you genuinely want per-application productivity classification and detailed web analytics, Time Doctor does that far more thoroughly than we do.
Some teams want the in-the-moment nudge. It is a real feature that we have chosen not to build.
A broader set of native integrations and payroll workflows built on tracked hours.
A longer track record and a much larger public review base.
Attendance, leave and holidays for a team that just needs the records right.

No. Time Doctor is a cloud product. If self-hosting is a requirement, see the self-hosted comparison.
No, deliberately. Application and window titles are recorded for context, but no application is classified as productive or unproductive and no employee is given a score. We think that classification causes more arguments than it resolves.
No. There are no pop-ups nudging an employee back to work.
Employees, projects and historical time entries import from a CSV export. Screenshots and productivity classifications do not migrate.
A 7-day trial with your real team is a better comparison than any table. Install the tracker on two machines and look at what the reports actually say.
